Australian Wine Tastings 2020 - The Nordics (cancelled)
Important update:
In light of the current global situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve taken the decision to cancel our Australian Wine Tastings in the Nordics, which were scheduled for October 2020. With the ongoing uncertainty, we are not sure what the impact will be on travel restrictions, the hospitality sector and the wine industry in the coming months. We will be exploring options for 2021 and will keep you updated with any developments.
Our Nordic Roadshow has become an anticipated and highly regarded event, showcasing premium Australian wine to influential wine trade and avid wine consumers in Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
The tastings in Helsinki, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo feature approximately 250 wines from 50 wineries. Some of the wines on show are already in market, whilst others are from producers that are seeking distribution. We are joined by local importers presenting their range as well as a number of winemakers and winery owners who have travelled over from Australia.
In each city, we host a trade master class for 30–40 journalists, sommeliers and educators, and we focus on a particular topic such as a region, grape variety or trend. In 2019 the master class was on ‘Cool Australia – Oceans, Altitude and Australian Attitude’, which was presented by Madeleine Stenwreth MW.
Free-pour focus tables allow guests to continue their exploration of Australian wine, with regional and topical themes. In 2019 the focus tables showcased wines from Orange, Riverina, Margaret River and Rutherglen.
The 2019 roadshow attracted a record number of guests: more than 1400 trade and consumers attended the event. Trade guests included importers, media, educators, the monopoly and HoReCa (on-trade, restaurants and sommeliers). After the trade master class and tasting, the event continued in the evening as a ticketed public tasting.
In 2020 the Nordic Roadshow will return to Helsinki (1 October), Copenhagen (5 October), Stockholm (7 October) and Oslo (12 October).
More details are coming soon.
