Australian Wine Tastings - The Nordics
Showcasing premium Australian wine to trade and consumers in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
Our annual Nordic Roadshow has become an anticipated and highly regarded event, showcasing premium Australian wine to influential wine trade and avid wine consumers in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
In 2019, the tastings in Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki featured approximately 250 wines from 50 wineries. From regional heroes like Margaret River Chardonnay and Barossa Shiraz to alternative varieties and new-wave styles such as Nebbiolo, Pét Nat and sparkling Chenin Blanc, the tasting demonstrated that Australian wines are far from ordinary.
Some of the wines on show were already in market, whilst others were from producers seeking distribution. We were joined by local importers presenting their range as well as a number of winemakers and winery owners who travelled over from Australia.
The programme in each city comprised a trade master class on ‘Oceans, Altitude and Australian Attitude’ presented by Madeleine Stenwreth MW, a trade tasting with regional focus tables, and a ticketed consumer tasting.
The 2019 roadshow attracted a record number of guests: more than 1400 trade and consumers attended the event. Trade guests included importers, media, educators, the monopoly and HoReCa (on-trade, restaurants and sommeliers). With a broad range of styles and grape varieties on show, the reaction to the wines was very positive from guests, who were impressed with the high quality and diversity.
As well as discovering new wines and meeting producers, trade guests also explored our new educational programme. Launched in January 2019, Australian Wine Discovered provides more than 200 downloadable resources including educator guides, editable presentations, videos, tasting mats and maps. During the tasting, guests visited the Australian Wine Discovered area and learnt about the content and how it can be used.
