Attendence & Presentation at ISSY 31: 31st Intenational Specialised Symposium on Yeast “Yeast Fermentation: from Genes to Application Aspects”, Vipava and Nova Gorica, Slovenia 2014.

Abstract

Josephine Jasmine Peter is a PhD student working on Prototrophic deletion libraries to identify nitrogen related genes in wine and laboratory yeast. The purpose of her travel was to participate and present the project outcomes at the ISSY31: International Specialised Symposium on Yeast held in Slovenia, from October 9 – 12, 2014. The meeting broadened her knowledge on yeast research. Attendance at the conference also allowed networking with other yeast researchers and guest speakers from all over the world.

Summary

ISSY 31 is an international specialised symposium on yeast conducted by International Commission on Yeasts (ICY). ICY represents many countries where studies of yeasts are conducted. ISSY 31 symposium had approximately 300 delegates. The meeting consisted of 20 invited international speakers and nearly 200 oral presentations going on in parallel sessions. Attendance in the symposium gave an opportunity to present the project results achieved and also provided a great opportunity to communicate with other international researchers, share ideas on yeast studies and build potential international collaborations.
