The Australian Geographical Indication "Adelaide" was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 27 December 1996 in response to a direction received by the Registrar from the Presiding Member of the Geographical Indications Committee acting under Section 40Z of the WAC Act 1980.

The Geographical Indication "ADELAIDE" is located within the State of South Australia, Australia.
The beginning point of the boundary is located at the intersection of the western and the northern boundaries of the Hundred of Narridy (located on the western boundary of the District Council of Rocky River) and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Hundred of Narridy to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Hundred of Bundaleer, and thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Hundred of Bundaleer to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Hundred of Reynolds, and thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Hundred of Reynolds to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Hundred of Anne, and thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Hundred of Anne to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Hundred of Hallett, and thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Hundred of Hallett to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Hundred of Tomkinson, and thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Hundred of Tomkinson to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the District Council of Hallett, and thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the District Council of Hallett to its intersection with the eastern coastline of South Australia as defined by the eastern shoreline of the Gulf St.Vincent to its intersection with the western boundary of the Hundred of Goyder (adjacent to the township of Port Wakefield), and thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Hundred of Goyder to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Hundred of Goyder, and thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Hundred of Goyder to its intersection with the western boundary of the Hundred of Everard, and thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Hundred of Everard to its intersection with the western boundary of the Hundred of Boucaut, and thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Hundred of Boucaut to its intersection with the western boundary of the Hundred of Koolunga, and thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Hundred of Koolunga to its intersection with the western boundary of the Hundred of Narridy, and thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Hundred of Narridy to the beginning point.The Geographical Indication "ADELAIDE" also includes all of the area of Kangaroo Island which is located immediately adjacent to the described area and is also located within the State of South Australia, Australia.The area so enclosed includes all of the District Council of Angaston, the District Council of Barossa, the District Council of Burra Burra, the District Council of Clare, the District Council of Dudley, the District Council of East Torrens, the District Council of Eudunda, the District Council of Gumeracha, the District Council of Kapunda, the District Council of Kingscote, the District Council of Light, the District Council of Mallala, the District Council of Mount Barker, the District Council of Mount Pleasant, the District Council of Onkaparinga, the District Council of Port Elliot and Goolwa, the District Council of Robertstown, the District Council of Riverton, the District Council of Saddleworth and Auburn, the District Council of Spalding, the District Council of Stirling, the District Council of Strathalbyn, the District Council of Tanunda, the District Council of Victor Harbor, the District Council of Willunga, the District Council of Yankalilla, and those parts of the District Council of Blyth - Snowtown lying to the east of the described boundary, those parts of the District Council of Crystal Brook - Red Hill lying to the east of the described boundary, those parts of the District Council of Hallett lying to the south of the described boundary, those parts of the District Council of Jamestown lying to the south of the described boundary,
