Peel Geographical Indication

The Australian Geographical Indication "Peel" was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 4 September 2001 in response to a direction received by the Registrar from the Presiding Member of the Geographical Indications Committee acting under Section 40Z of the WAC Act 1980.

The Geographical Indication “Peel” is located within the State of Western Australia, Australia.

The beginning point of the boundary is located in the north western corner of the region on Map Pinjarra (Sheet SI 50-2) at grid reference LK785175, being the high water mark on the Indian Ocean at Becher Point near Port Kennedy, then proceeds easterly in a straight line to the point on the Mandurah Road at grid reference LK850175, then proceeds northerly along Mandurah Road to its intersection with an unnamed road at grid reference LK865270, then proceeds north easterly along the unnamed road to its intersection with another unnamed road at grid reference LK895280, then proceeds easterly along this unnamed road to its intersection with Kwinana Freeway at grid reference LK910280, then proceeds generally northerly along Kwinana Freeway to its intersection with an unnamed road at grid reference LK915330, then proceeds north easterly along the unnamed road to its intersection with the South Western Highway just north of the township of Byford at grid reference MK065365, then proceeds easterly in a straight line to the 100 metre contour at grid reference MK075365, this being the commencement of the common boundary with the Perth Hills region, then proceeds generally southerly following the Perth Hills boundary along the 100 metre contour crossing Beenyup Brook at grid reference MK080335, then proceeds generally southerly along the 100 metre contour to grid reference MK052036 (latitude 32° 30' 00"), then proceeds easterly along latitude 32° 30' 00" to grid reference MK303039 where the common boundary with the Perth Hills region ceases, then continues easterly along latitude 32° 30' 00" to a point on an unnamed road at grid reference MK845040, then proceeds south easterly along the unnamed road to its intersection with another unnamed road near Dattening at grid reference MJ880998, then proceeds south easterly along this unnamed road to Dunkernucking at grid reference MJ920950, then proceeds southerly along the unnamed road crossing the Hotham River at Pumphreys Bridge at grid reference MJ907860, then proceeds southerly along the same unnamed road to its intersection with another unnamed road near Congelin at grid reference MJ885670, then proceeds southerly along the other unnamed road to the edge of the map at grid reference MJ870490 (latitude 33° 00' 00"); On to Map Collie (Sheet SI 50-6) at grid reference MJ870490, then proceeds southerly along the unnamed road to its intersection with Albany Highway at grid reference MJ870480, then proceeds south easterly along Albany Highway to its intersection with the Pinjarra-Williams Road just west of the township of Williams at grid reference MJ885450, then proceeds south westerly and then westerly along Pinjarra-Williams Road to its intersection with the Williams-Collie Road at grid reference MJ730370, then proceeds south westerly along the Williams-Collie Road until its intersection with an unnamed road near Lynford at grid reference MJ640295, then proceeds west north westerly in a straight line to the intersection of two unnamed roads near Tallanalla at grid reference MJ178360, this being the commencement of a common boundary with the Geographe region, then proceeds north north westerly along an unnamed road to the edge of the map near Hoffmans Mill at grid reference MJ144483; On to Map Pinjarra (Sheet SI 50-2) at grid reference MJ144483, then proceeds north westerly along the same unnamed road to its intersection with an unnamed vehicular track at grid reference MJ093528, then proceeds westerly along the unnamed road to its intersection with South Western Highway just north of the township of Yarloop at grid reference LJ978538, then proceeds southerly along South Western Highway to its intersection with an unnamed road at grid reference LJ980532, then proceeds generally westerly and the north westerly and then westerly along the unnamed road to its intersection with Old Coast Road at grid reference LJ800568, then proceeds north westerly and westerly along the unnamed road to the high water mark of the Indian Ocean at Preston Beach near Yalgorup at grid reference LJ735608, where the common boundary with the Geographe region ceases, then proceeds generally northerly along the coastline to grid reference LK785175 at Becher Point near Port Kennedy, being the descriptor starting point.
