The Australian Geographical Indication "Central Western Australia" was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 1 May 1996 in response to a direction received by the Registrar from the Presiding Member of the Geographical Indications Committee acting under Section 40Z of the WAC Act 1980.

The geographical indication "Central Western Australia" is located within the state of Western Australia, Australia.

The beginning point of the boundary is located at the intersection of the northern and western boundaries of the Shire of Moora and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of Shire of Moora and thence generally south along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Moora to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Shire of Victoria Plains, and proceeds thence in a generally south east and thence south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Victoria Plains to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Shire of Toodyay, and proceeds thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Toodyay to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Shire of Northam, and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Northam and thence generally south east along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Northam to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Shire of York, and proceeds thence in a generally south east and thence south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of York to its intersection with the north eastern boundary of the Shire of Beverley, and proceeds thence in a generally south east and thence south direction along the north eastern and thence eastern boundaries of the Shire of Beverley to its intersection with northern boundary of the Shire of Brookton, and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Brookton and thence generally south along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Brookton to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Shire of Pingelly, and proceeds thence in a generally south east and thence south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Pingelly and thence generally west along the southern boundary of the Shire of Pingelly to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Shire of Cuballing, and proceeds thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Cuballing to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Shire of Narrogin, and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Narrogin and thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Narrogin to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Shire of Wagin, and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Wagin and thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Wagin to its intersection with the north eastern boundary of the Shire of Woodanilling, and proceeds thence in a generally south east direction along the north east boundary Shire of Tambellup, and proceeds thence in a generally south east and thence south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Tambellup and thence in a generally west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of Tambellup to its intersection with the southern boundary of the Shire of Kojonup, and proceeds thence in a generally west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of Kojonup and thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Shire of Kojonup to its intersection with southern boundary of the Shire of West Arthur, and proceeds thence in a generally west and thence north west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of West Arthur to its intersection with the southern boundary of the Shire of Collie, and proceeds thence in a generally north west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of Collie to the point where the eastern boundary of the Shire of Donneybrook and the western boundary of the Shire of Boyup Brook intersect the southern boundary of the Shire of Collie, and proceeds thence in a straight line in a generally north direction from this point to a point located on the north western boundary of the Shire of Collie approximately three (3) kilometers east of Mount Ross where the north western boundary of the Shire of Collie veers to the north, and proceeds thence in a generally north direction along the north western boundary of the Shire of Collie to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Shire of Boddington, and proceeds thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Shire of Boddington to its intersection with the western boundary of the Shire of Wandering, and proceeds thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Shire of Wandering and thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Wandering to its intersection with the western boundary of the Shire of Beverley, and proceeds thence in a generally north west direction along the western boundary of the Shire of Beverley to its intersection with the western boundary of the Shire of York, and proceeds thence in a generally north, east and thence north direction along the western boundary of the Shire of York to its intersection with the southern boundary of the Shire of Northam, and proceeds thence in a generally west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of Northam and thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Shire of Northam to its intersection with the southern boundary of the Shire of Toodyay, and proceeds thence in a generally west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of Toodyay and thence in a generally north, west, north and thence west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of Toodyay and thence in a generally north, east and thence north direction along the western boundary of the Shire of Toodyay to its intersection with the southern boundary of the Shire of Victoria Plains, and proceeds thence in a generally north and thence north west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of Victoria Plains and thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Shire of Victoria Plains to its intersection with the western boundary of the Shire of Moora, and proceeds thence in a generally north direction along the western boundary of the Shire of Moora to the beginning point.

The area so enclosed includes all of the Shires of Moora, Toodyay, Northam, York, Beverley, Brookton, Pingelly, Cuballing, Narrogin, Wagin, Woodanilling, Katanning, Broomehill, Tambellup, Kojonup, West Arthur, Williams, Victoria Plains, Boddington, Wandering, and that portion of the Shire of Collie lying to the east of the described boundary.

The areas so described also includes the towns of Northam and Narrogin.
