The Australian Wine Tasting Tokyo 2024 is an exciting opportunity for Australian wineries to showcase brands distributed in Japan to key trade and influential media.
Hosted by Wine Australia and supported by Austrade, this event will be held 10 September 2024 at Andaz Tokyo, Toranomon Hills. Following the success of Australian Wine Tasting Tokyo 2023, this is a valuable opportunity to continue to build trade relationships and drive interest in Australian wines in Japan. The day will comprise of a tasting with targeting 80+ wineries and three masterclasses conducted by Melbourne based Master Sommelier Yuki Hirose. Join us to showcase Australian wines in Japan, and the people, places and stories that make our wine unique.
Japan is the eighth largest export market for Australian wine by value, and worth $47.9M (+3.9% vs March 2023). Australian wine has increased in awareness and remarkably improved its quality perception over the years, now ranking third against other countries of origin for the second year in a row[1].
Why participate?
Participating in this event via your importer will:
- give your brand exposure to an expanded pool of potential new customers
- raise awareness of the variety of Australian wines already available in the Japan market
- provide your importer support by participating in an Australian organised event for promotion of their wine portfolio
- take advantage of the surging number of international visitors post pandemic
Cost and registration
Cost to participate is AUD$200 (before GST) per SKU.
- 2 SKUs minimum, 5 SKUs maximum per brand*
- All brands must have current distribution in Japan and be represented at the event by their importer
- Importers will be contacted after the registration period to request nominated SKU information

Participation criteria
- Registration for participation will be managed by the wineries for this event, however you MUST speak with your importer to confirm their support before registration. Your importer needs to be available to represent you on the day, and tasting samples should be shipped through your importer.
- Participation is only open to wine producers as well as agents, distributors or exporters, and importers working directly with the winery(s).
- Winery brands only (no private labels, bulk wines, export-only labels, OEM etc.)
- Brands must demonstrate existing sales in the Australian domestic market.
- At least one wine from each brand to be showcased has received 90 points and above from a widely recognised and reputable third party.
- Participation may be subject to a maximum number of tables. Wine Australia will represent its stakeholders fairly and endeavour to meet all space requests.
- Participation is at the discretion of Wine Australia.
This event is promoted to Australian wine businesses between the above period via the Wine Australia website, marketing newsletters and regional communications.
