We hosted our Australia Trade Tasting (ATT) at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London, on 7 April 2022.
Through this event, we helped distributors to place premium Australian wines on the retail shelves, online and in wine lists, and ensured they were included in positive conversations across the media. The event was a platform for wineries both in market and those seeking distribution to be seen by retail buyers, independent specialists, the on-trade and sommeliers.
The 2022 edition took a slightly different format taking on board COVID safety precautions, as well as travel restrictions still in place in Australia.
In terms of COVID secure protocols, the event was split into two sessions of 3.5 hours each, with a break in between. Additionally, capacity at each session was capped to ensure attendees were comfortable in the space. Given the travel restrictions still in place in Australia, winemakers may not have been able to attend in person, and the tables were managed by the importers and distributors.
With 54 exhibitor tables, the tasting featured more than 700 wines from 160 producers. The tasting offered a much-needed opportunity for the on-trade, Indies and buyers to explore distributors’ current Australian portfolios for the first time in two years. A focus of this year’s tasting was new-to-market wines seeking distribution. There was a bespoke area and catalogue for 100 wines all eyeing up the UK as their target market.
