Unless an exemption has been granted by Wine Australia, grape products exported from Australia must comply with the Food Standards Code. Accordingly, the labelling and wine standards information in Wine Australia’s Export Market Guides should be read in conjunction with Wine Australia’s Licensing and Compliance Guide which contains the requirements of the Food Standards Code and applicable exemptions.

Türkiye is the bridge between the east and west exhibiting a unique culture of eastern and western tradition. Türkiye is predominately a Muslim country but its political system is a democratic secular republic. It has no official state religion and the Turkish Constitution provides for the freedom of religion and conscience. Türkiye is a member of the Council of Europe, NATO and the G-20 major economies. Türkiye is situated in Anatolia and the Balkans and controls access to the Black Sea.

Türkiye is attempting to become a member of the European Union and consequently is making changes to its regulations and standards to bring them into line with European laws.

Regulatory environment

The Turkish Ministry for Agriculture and Forestry is responsible for the Turkish Food Codex (Law: 5996) including the Food Codex Regulation on Food Labelling and Provision of Information to Consumers and the Codex Regulation on Food Additives. Türkiye's principle law governing food is the Production, Consumption and Inspection of Food, Law: 5179. Wine is subject to these laws as well as the Communiqué on Wine 2008/67 issued under the Food Codex. Turkish Ministry of Trade administers customs laws and the import process.
