The opportunities for Australian wine in the on-line channel in the United Kingdom
Abstract
Australian wine companies are looking beyond the traditional off-trade channels in the UK for profitable opportunities. The online channel may offer opportunities for growth however one major issue is that there is very little intelligence available to assess the size and scope of the opportunity. This project aims to address this situation by providing insights into the online channel in the UK and assessing the opportunities for the profitable and sustainable growth of Australian wine sales in the UK.
Summary
The United Kingdom (UK) remains one of the biggest and most important markets for the Australian wine category. However, Australian wine companies are looking beyond the traditional off-trade channels for profitable opportunities. The online channel is currently growing faster than traditional channels and may offer some upside with potentially higher sales margins. One major issue is that there is very little intelligence available to assess the size and scope of the opportunity. This project aims to address this situation by providing insights into the online channel in the UK and assessing the opportunities for the profitable and sustainable growth of Australian wine sales in the UK.
