Virtual reality careers tour
Summary
Objective
The purpose of this project is to develop an immersive, engaging interactive virtual reality supply chain tour to showcase the depth and breadth of career opportunities within the Australian grape and wine sector.
The virtual reality tour will be used within schools, accessible via various career websites and for broader distribution and use by anyone talking about careers in the wine industry or wanting to take a virtual tour of the industry.
Background
The Australian grape and wine sector is experiencing labour and skill shortages in key roles, acutely felt across viticulture and vineyards, but also more widely across the value chain, across regions and with variability across businesses.
There is a gap in contemporary sector-driven career pathways information for students and those considering careers in the grape and wine sector.
There is an opportunity to develop engaging immersive content with a focus on innovation, sustainability, science, adaptability to climate change, new ventures, and freedom of thought – working in the grape and wine sector is a 'lifestyle choice'.
In May 2022, Wine Australia issued a Request for Proposal and Think Digital Studios was selected. Think Digital Studios will work with Wine Australia and representatives from the Australian grape and wine sector to design, script, produce and publish a virtual reality 360 tour showcasing the Australian grape and wine sector value chain. The scope of the tour is expected to include four distinct locations - the vineyard, a winery, a production/business facility and a science/research facility.
Sector benefits
The virtual reality tour will support industry awareness of the Australian grape and wine sector across the value chain, enable access to an immersive virtual vineyard and winery tour enabling students and others to become more familiar with the industry, inspire and educate students about the diverse roles and opportunities across the industry and enhance industry and education collaborations. The tour will be overlayed with a career matrix and contain embedded activities for use by teachers in a classroom setting, linked to the national schools curriculum.
