South West Australia Geographical Indication
The Australian Geographical Indication "South West Australia" was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 1 May 1996 in response to a direction received by the Registrar from the Presiding Member of the Geographical Indications Committee acting under Section 40Z of the WAC Act 1980.

GI textual description:
The Geographical Indication "South West Australia" is located within the State of Western Australia, Australia.
The beginning point of the boundary is located at the intersection of the northern boundary of the Shire of Harvey and the Indian Ocean and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Harvey and thence in a generally south east and thence generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Harvey to a point on this boundary approximately three (3) kilometres east of Mount Ross where the Shire of Harvey eastern boundary veers to the west, and from this point the boundary for this geographical indication departs the Shire of Harvey boundary and proceeds thence in a sraight line in a generally south direction passing through the Shire of Collie to the point at which the southern boundary of the Shire of Collie intersects the north west corner boundary of the Shire of Boyup Brook and proceeds thence in a generally south east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Boyup Brook and thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Boyup Brook to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Shire of Cranbrook, and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Cranbrook and thence generally south along the eastern boundary of Shire of Cranbrook to its intersection with the northern boundary of Shire of Plantagenet and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Plantagenet to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Shire of Albany, and proceeds thence in a generally east and thence south east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Albany to the point where the Shire of Albany boundary intersects with the south coast of Western Australia as formed by the Southern Ocean, and proceeds thence in a generally west and then north direction along the coastline of Western Australia to the beginning point.
The area so enclosed includes all of the Shires of Harvey, Bunbury, Dardanup, Capel, Busselton, Donneybrook, Boyup Brook, Augusta-Margaret River, Nannup, Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Manjimup, Cranbrook, Demnark, Plantagenet, Albany and that part of the Shire of Collie lying to the west of the described boundary and all adjacent islands.
The area so described also includes the Town of Albany.
