Riverina Geographical Indication
The Australian Geographical Indication "Riverina" was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 12 November 1998 in response to a direction received by the Registrar from the Presiding Member of the Geographical Indications Committee acting under Section 40Z of the WAC Act 1980.

GI textual description:
The Geographical Indication "Riverina" is located within the zone Big Rivers, within the State of New South Wales, Australia.
The beginning point of the boundary is situated on Map Booligal (Sheet SI 55-5) at grid reference CD1544, being the point at the Trida locality where the road crosses the Orange to Broken Hill railway line, then proceeds generally easterly along the railway line to the edge of map at grid reference CD6043; On to Map Cargelligo (Sheet SI 55-6) at grid reference CD6043, then continues along the Orange to Broken Hill railway line to the edge of map at grid reference CD8648 (latitude 33° 00’), then proceeds along latitude 33°00’ to the Orange to Broken Hill railway line at DD0348, then proceeds generally easterly along the Orange to Broken Hill railway line to the edge of map at grid reference ED0042; On to Map Forbes (Sheet SI 55-7) at grid reference ED0042 and continues generally easterly along the Orange to Broken Hill railway line to the point in the township of Condobolin where the railway crosses the road heading north from Condobolin at grid reference ED1341, then proceeds south easterly in a straight line to the intersection of the turn off to the Fairholme aerodrome on the Condobolin to Forbes Road at grid reference ED3617, then proceeds south south easterly in a straight line to the intersection of the Newell and Mid-Western Highways at the locality of Marsden at grid reference EC4964, then proceeds south south westerly in a straight line at the edge of map at grid reference EC4038 (latitude 34°00’); On to Map Cootamundra (Sheet SI 55-11) at grid reference EC4038 (latitude 34° 00’) and continue along the same straight line to the locality of Barmedman at the junction of Lake Cargelligo and Rankins Springs branch railway lines at grid reference EC3522, then proceeds generally south easterly along the Lake Cargelligo Branch railway line to its intersection with the Temora to Ariah Park Road at grid reference EB4888, then proceeds south south easterly in a straight line to the junction of the South Western and Main Southern Railways in Junee at grid reference EB5342, then proceeds south south westerly in a straight line to the edge of map at grid reference EB4827 (latitude 35° 00’); On to Map Wagga Wagga (Sheet SI 55-15) at grid reference EB4827 (latitude 35° 00’), then continue in the same straight line to the intersection of the runways of the Wagga Wagga aerodrome at grid reference EB4208, then proceeds south westerly in a straight line to the junction of the Main Southern and Henty to Rand Railways at grid reference EA0370, then proceeds south along the Main Southern Railway to where the line crosses Billabong Creek in Culcairn at grid reference EA0353, then proceeds west north westerly in a straight line to the edge of map at grid reference EA0053 (longitude 147° 00’); On to Map Jerilderie (Sheet SI 55-14) at grid reference EA0053 (longitude 147°00’), then continues in the same straight line to the intersection of the Urana to Mulwala railway line and the Berrigan to Oaklands road at grid reference DA2464, then proceeds generally westerly along the Oaklands to Berrigan road to grid reference DA0966, then proceeds generally south westerly along the Oaklands to Berrigan road until it intersections with the Riverina Highway in Berrigan at grid reference CA9253, then proceeds westerly along the Riverina Highway through Finley to the edge of map at grid reference CA6457 (longitude 145°30’); On to Map Deniliquin (Sheet SI 55-13) at grid reference CA6457 (longitude 145°30’) on the Riverina Highway and continue westerly along the Riverina Highway until it intersects with the Cobb Highway near Deniliquin at grid reference CA1767, then proceeds south westerly along unnamed road to the bridge over the Edward River at grid reference CA1566, then proceeds north westerly in a straight line to the intersection of the Echuca to Balranald Railway and the Moulamein to Maude road at grid reference BB3013, then proceeds north easterly and then northerly along the Moulamein to Maude Road to the edge of map at grid reference BB4523 (latitude 35°00’); On to Map Hay (Sheet SI 55-9) at grid reference BB4523 (latitude 35°00’), then continues generally northerly along the Moulamein to Maude Road to where it crosses the Murrumbidgee River near Maude at grid reference BB5281, then proceeds generally northerly in a straight line to the edge of map at grid reference BC6035; On to Map Booligal (Sheet SI 55-5) at grid reference BC6035, then continues in the same straight line to the intersection of the Cobb Highway and Mossgiel Trunk Road in Mossgiel at grid reference BD7318, then proceeds north easterly in a straight line to the point at the Trida locality where the road crosses the Orange to Broken Hill railway line being grid reference CD1544, which is the descriptor starting point.
