The Australian Geographical Indication "Frankland River" was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 24 August 2000 in response to a direction received by the Registrar from the Presiding Member of the Geographical Indications Committee acting under Section 40Z of the WAC Act 1980.

The Geographical Indication "Frankland River" is located within the region Great Southern, within the zone South West Australia, within the State of Western Australia, Australia.The beginning point of the boundary is situated on Map Tonebridge (Sheet 2229) at grid reference MH810190, being the intersection of longitudinal grid line 810 and Terrace Road, then proceeds easterly along grid line 190 to the edge of map at grid reference NH000190; On to Map Frankland (Sheet 2329) at grid reference 000190, then proceeds easterly along grid line 190 to grid reference 150190, then proceeds southerly along grid line 150 to grid reference 150090, then proceeds easterly along grid line 090 to grid reference 180090, then proceeds southerly along grid line 180 to grid reference 180040, then proceeds westerly along grid line 040 to grid reference 150040, then proceeds southerly along grid line 150 to the edge of map at grid reference 150824; On to Map Denmark (Sheet 2328) at grid reference 150824, then proceeds southerly along grid line 150 to grid reference 150820, then proceeds easterly along grid line 820 to grid reference 200820, then proceeds southerly along grid line 200 to grid reference 200740, then proceeds westerly along grid line 740 to the edge of map at grid reference 000740; On to Map Deep River (Sheet 2228) at grid reference MG000740, then proceeds westerly along grid line 740 to intersect Nornalup Road at grid reference MG968740, then proceeds generally northerly along Nornalup Road to its junction with Muirs Highway at grid reference MG980823, then proceeds north westerly along Muirs Highway to the edge of map at grid reference MG979824; On to Map Tonebridge (Sheet 2229) at grid reference MG979824, then proceeds generally west north westerly along Muirs Highway to grid line 800 at grid reference MG800866, then proceeds northerly along grid line 800 to grid reference MH800120, then proceeds north north easterly in a straight line to Terrace Road at grid reference MH810190, which is the descriptor starting point.
