James March
James March is the Chief Executive of Barossa Grape & Wine Association (BGWA), formerly heading up the organisation’s marketing and communications since 2010. As Chief Executive, James interacts with many regional, state, national and international stakeholders, and oversees the management and strategic direction of the region’s peak industry body. James grew up on a vineyard in Eden Valley and went to school in Barossa. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Adelaide University and then spent six years overseas, working vintages in Germany and Portugal. James is the author of ‘The Winemakers’ Essential Phrasebook’, a multi-lingual guide to working vintages around the world, and he is also involved with his family grape and wine business, Heathvale Wines, located in Eden Valley.
James March ist Hauptgeschäftsführer der Barossa Grape & Wine Association (BGWA) und leitete zuvor seit 2010 die Bereiche Marketing und Kommunikation der Organisation. Als Chief Executive interagiert James March mit vielen regionalen, staatlichen, nationalen und internationalen Interessenvertretern und beaufsichtigt das Management und die strategische Ausrichtung des Spitzenverbandes der Region. James wuchs auf einem Weingut im Eden Valley auf und ging in Barossa zur Schule. Er schloss sein Studium an der Universität Adelaide mit einem Bachelor of Arts ab und verbrachte dann sechs Jahre im Ausland, wo er unter anderem in Deutschland und Portugal auf Weingütern arbeitete. James ist der Autor von "The Winemakers' Essential Phrasebook", einem mehrsprachigen Führer zur Weinbereitung auf der ganzen Welt, und er engagiert sich auch in seinem familieneigenen Trauben- und Weinunternehmen, Heathvale Wines, im Eden Valley.
Michael Wehrs
After 20 years of managing sales and marketing in the High Fashion Industry in Germany, Michael Wehrs moved to Australia in 2002 and honed in on his passion for fine wine. Visits to wine regions across the world and wine studies, including a viticulture course in the Barossa, helped him to gain broader wine knowledge. Michael managed the sales for Pertaringa and Geoff Hardy wines, and then in 2011 he found his home at the iconic Kay Brothers, the oldest family winery in McLaren Vale still in founding family hands. This family-run estate is renowned for its red wines, and their most famous wine is the Shiraz from the Block 6 vineyard, which was planted in 1892. It is made with original open fermenters, hand plunging and the heritage 1928 basket press. With Michael spreading the winery’s message globally, the Kay Brothers brand is going from strength to strength in both domestic and export markets.
Nach 20 Jahren Verkaufs- und Marketingmanagement in der deutschen Modebranche zog Michael Wehrs 2002 nach Australien und widmete sich dort seiner Leidenschaft für Spitzenweine. Reisen in Weinregionen auf der ganzen Welt und Weinstudien, einschließlich eines Weinbaulehrgangs im Barossa, halfen ihm, sein Weinwissen zu vervollständigen. Michael war für den Vertrieb der Weine von Pertaringa und Geoff Hardy verantwortlich. 2011 fand er dann seine Heimat bei den legendären Kay Brothers, dem ältesten Familienweingut in McLaren Vale, das noch immer in Familienbesitz ist. Es ist bekannt für seine Rotweine. Ihr berühmtester Wein ist der Shiraz vom Weingut Block 6, der 1892 gepflanzt wurde. Thomas Curtius MW
Thomas Curtius MW is primarily a specialist in PR, digital communications and business development, but has been involved in the wine business for more than two decades. He completed his WSET Diploma in 2010 and became a Master of Wine in 2019, winning the Outstanding Achievement Award for his overall performance in the MW examination. Thomas works as a consultant, teacher and lecturer, he judges in wine competitions, writes articles, and runs wine seminars and master classes for professionals and enthusiasts.
