ProWein is Europe’s most important wine event, attracting more than 60,000 visitors from across the world, including major buyers from Europe, USA, Canada and Asia.

Important announcement:

Due to the Omicron variant of COVID-19, ProWein 2022 has moved to 15 – 17 May 2022. For more information, including the press release and FAQs, please visit the ProWein website here. The fair was originally scheduled to take place between 27 – 29 March 2022.

Last year, after carefully assessing the situation, Wine Australia made the difficult decision not to take a stand at Prowein, Germany 2022.

Despite waiting for as long as possible, there remained too many uncertainties thrown up by the pandemic to be able to justifiably take a stand, including travel restrictions in Australia, Covid secure protocol at the fair, and quarantine restrictions.

It was not an easy decision to take, but we look forward to returning to the fair in 2023.

For further information please refer to our FAQs.

If you have any questions at all on this subject in the meantime, please email Laura Jewell MW on laura.jewell@wineaustralia.com.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q
I have a stand booking from 2020; is this refundable?
A

Any booking on the Wine Australia stand will have been refunded by us back in 2020. Other bookings made with the fair will need to be discussed with Messe Duesseldorf directly.

Q
When will we know about travel information to and from Germany, including quarantine restrictions at either end?
A

Given the continually evolving nature of the situation, we strongly advise all parties wishing to travel to check the Australian Department for Home Affairs Travel Information https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/travel-restrictions as well as the German Federal Foreign Office https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/en/coronavirus/2317268 for arrival information.

Q
Will Wine Australia have any presence at the fair?
A

Wine Australia will not have any presence at ProWein 2022.

Q
Will Wine Australia be present at the fair in 2023?
A

At the moment we are hoping to return to the fair in 2023. We will, however, continue to monitor the situation, and we will update everyone about our 2023 plans in due course.

Q
I was registered for a booth in 2022, will I automatically be on the list for 2023?
A

As with the roll over from 2020, we will contact wineries who were previously registered or had expressed an interest in 2020, 2021 and 2022 as priority, once we know the number of booths and wineries we will be able to accommodate. It is not guaranteed that we will be allocated the same footprint as previously.

Q
I still want to participate in 2022, what should I do?
A

If you would like to have a stand at ProWein 2022, you can find more information at www.prowein.de/2330, and we recommend getting in touch with Geraldine Leverd at Messe Duesseldorf in Germany, or Robert Laing in Sydney:
