The impacts of climate change are felt far and wide. That’s why global action towards a lower carbon future is becoming a reality. The global wine industry is facing challenges, including changing grape phenology, harvest dates and many more. There is also the threat of exclusion from key markets due to the carbon intensity of our products.

We all need to consider the emissions cost of our products both to reduce our impact on the climate and to ensure access to key markets in the future.

The Emissions Reduction Roadmap, developed by Wine Australia with global sustainability advisory Edge Impact and designed in consultation with more than 200 members of the grape and wine community, provides a coordinated, industry-endorsed and science-backed pathway to reducing carbon emissions across the entire grape and wine value chain.

The Roadmap identifies the current footprint of the Australian grape and wine sector, the key areas where emissions reduction can be achieved and it provides practical steps for growers, winemakers and other members of the value chain to start or further reduce emissions from today.

It outlines 11 effective and practical initiatives that can be implemented in the vineyard, in the winery and through the supply chain that have the opportunity to achieve an emissions reduction of 42 per cent across the sector by 2030.

Watch this webinar to go through the Roadmap in detail with Wine Australia and Edge Impact.
