Opportunities await in USA

Australian exporters looking to the US market can get valuable information from our newly released United States of America – Market Insight Report that provides a market overview and channel analysis, and discusses sales trends, Australian exports to the US and consumer insights.

The US is the largest wine market in the world, valued at US$41 billion a year, and is Australia’s number one destination for wine exports by value. Wine Australia’s 2015 export data shows that things are starting to turn around for Australia in the US market after a few hard years. In 2015, export value increased by 4 per cent to A$443 million Australian dollars. Growth is particularly marked in some varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, above $10 a litre, suggesting future opportunities.

Market in Focus - Australia

The Market in Focus - Australia report combines data from Wine Intelligence, IRI-Aztec and Wine Australia to illustrate what trends are emerging in the domestic market. While Australia exports 60 per cent of wine produced, the domestic market is crucial, especially for smaller producers. Australian wine has more than 75 per cent market share in the domestic market, while imports are experiencing higher growth rates.
