Sustainable Winegrowing Australia is Australia’s national program for grapegrowers and winemakers to demonstrate and continuously improve their sustainability credentials in the vineyard and winery through the environmental, social and economic aspects of their businesses.

The program takes a holistic approach to managing, supporting and promoting sustainability. Administered by the Australian Wine Research Institute with governance, endorsement and active support of Australian Grape & Wine and Wine Australia. It’s modelled on global best practices and aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with progress towards these monitored annually.

Australia is one of the most innovative winemaking countries in the world. We challenge traditions and adopt innovations in growing and making wine more rapidly and more widely than many other countries.

Members of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia commit to the program because they want to leave the world a better place. They care about protecting and enhancing the environment for the future, through excellence in sustainability practices today.

Becoming a member is easy. For a minimal annual fee, the national program provides a simple online reporting framework, practical tools and access to benchmarking data. The aim is for all producers to achieve business efficiencies, cost savings and increased business value over the long term.
