Since its launch nearly a year ago, the Australian Wine Research Institute's (AWRI) Grape and Wine eBook Collection has grown steadily and now holds 53 titles.

Some recent purchases include:

  • Strategic winery tourism and management: Building competitive winery tourism and winery management strategy
  • Understanding vineyard soils
  • Thirst for wine – inside China’s wine industry: The success factors of marketing wine in China
  • Toward a sustainable wine industry: Green enology research
Environmentally sustainable viticulture: Practices and practicality
  • What’s So Special About Biodynamic Wine? Thirty-five Questions and Answers for Wine Lovers

The AWRI’s Library and Information Services Coordinator Michael Downie said selecting practical and relevant titles remains the priority and there is also an emphasis on currency and choosing titles that reflect trends within the grape and wine sector.

‘Feedback from users has been positive, with the collection’s ease of use and accessibility being highlighted’, he said.
‘As for the future, popularity and demand for eBooks continues to grow and this is a priority for the John Fornachon Memorial Library.

‘For many within the grape and wine sector, obvious limitations remain around access to the Library’s print resources. eBooks are helping to solve this issue and plans are underway to expand into a second platform.’

Michael hopes to have the second platform available for use next year.

The collection is available to all Australian levy payers though Wine Australia funding and is accessed using existing AWRI website login details. Those who don’t have a login or who have forgotten their password can easily set up a new login.
